Forehead Lift

As the aging process begins to take effect, the face is usually the first part of the body that reveals just how old we really are. A forehead lift (brow lift) is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat and skin while tightening the muscles in the upper region of the face. The result is a facial appearance that looks youthful and revitalized. At his practice, Dr. Suman Das has helped many men and women achieve facial rejuvenation through a forehead lift procedure.

Best Candidates

Ideal candidates for forehead lift surgery are individuals who are in good overall health and do not smoke. They should also have realistic expectations about the procedure and a desire to improve one or more of the following conditions:

  • Wrinkles on the forehead

  • Deep creases between the eyes

  • Drooping eyebrows

During your initial consultation, Dr. Das will ask you some questions and evaluate your medical history to help you determine if a forehead lift will be beneficial to you.

Technique

A forehead lift is performed under intravenous sedation or general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. There are two types of methods that can be utilized when performing a forehead lift.

Traditional Forehead Lift

During a traditional forehead lift, an incision is made in the hairline of the scalp that extends from one ear to the other. After excess skin and fat tissue is removed from the upper face, the muscles of brow area are repositioned.

Endoscopic Forehead Lift

When performing an endoscopic facelift, multiple incisions are made in the scalp and an endoscope is inserted underneath the skin. As excess skin and fat are removed, the muscles are tightened, and the eyebrows are raised to a more youthful position. Generally, an endoscopic forehead lift is desired more often than a traditional forehead lift because it requires less recovery time.
Recovery

Once the forehead lift is complete, the incisions will be bandaged, and the head will be wrapped to reduce swelling. Pain medication will be prescribed to alleviate any pain or discomfort that may exist after surgery is complete. Many patients feel good enough to return to work about a week after the procedure, but they should avoid any strenuous activity or exercise for at least four to six weeks. As always, following Dr. Das’ postoperative instructions can ensure a safe and effective outcome.
